A very interactive, in-person workshop for you and your team. In this training workshop, participants will become children as they take part in a live Classroom Kitchen workshop. It’s an immersive experience as we get you and your team cooking along with James in the classroom setting.

We will focus on:

• session structure and classroom management
• teaching the use of sharp equipment and other food preparation techniques
• planning and delivering a basic cooking and nutrition lesson

The session is designed for up to 25 participants and can be completed as a 2 hour twilight or 3 hour workshop with a break (AM or PM).

We’ll even have a taste of what we’ve made at the end.

All equipment and ingredients are supplied with training being delivered by the company founder.

Another great option for schools or slightly smaller organisations, is our 3 Day Advanced Training.

This is where we’ll attend your setting across 3 days to train up to 2 members of staff to an advanced level. This is the same initial level of training which our own workshop teachers would have.

The three day programme is mainly held in the classroom with your pupils and participants. We’ll progress from an initial lesson observation of the trainer, James, through to the participants each planning and delivering a workshop on the final day.

In a school setting, across the 3 days, we’ll work with a variety of age groups and look at both food preparation (traditional cooking) lessons and baking lessons.

By the end of the training, the nominated staff members will feel hugely confident in delivering the subject and will also receive continued support through access to our Play, Pause, Teach platform (1 year free subscription). This is a great way to confidently launch the subject in your school as well as to up-level/train a DT coordinator.

For other education organisations: This training programme can be adapted to suit your opening hours (should they be evenings or weekends), so please get in touch with these and we’ll be able to propose a schedule of training to suit. We understand that 3 consecutive days may not be possible and so we’ll be happy to look into other arrangements.

We find that many of the schools we work with haven’t spent a lot of time focused on their Design & Technology Curriculum over the last few years. Unfortunately, it’s a subject that is sometimes neglected. Having been teachers, we understand why! Reasons such as, the pressures of education today, your school size and staff subject knowledge can all be a major factor in why Design Technology in your school, may need some TLC!

We offer a Consultancy and Mentoring service to help new subject leaders as well experienced leaders establish a quality Design & Technology (and Cooking & Nutrition) curriculum in your school. They may only need a one off consultancy session to simply get started or it could be that we work with them at various points through the school year. We build the programme to suit their needs!
